Seth (Paris, France, 1972)
2024, France
Acrylic and spray on canvas, 195 x 130 cm.
His language, seemingly simple, hides a deep symbolic burden that invites introspection. In the work, the spectrum of colors symbolizes imagination, identity, and memory. The figure from behind, anonymous, allows everyone to identify with it and project their own experiences. Thus, it is framed within the curatorial group Symbolic and Metaphoric Imaginaries, as Seth constructs a poetic and intimate universe, where memories and emotions emerge through painting.
The perspective that he brings to the collection:
We have included Seth in the collection for the strength of his imagery and the symbolic richness of his works, which combine poetry and introspection with contemporary issues. His themes, focused on memory, identity, and human fragility, allow for a dialogue with social problems and collective experiences. Through childlike figures and scenes full of symbolism, the artist represents the human and community dimension, connecting with the current context. His pictorial language, seemingly simple yet full of meaning, contributes to expanding the expressive registers of the collection and reinforcing its reflective and critical character.

Paris XIII, the Butte-aux-Cailles series
Seth
Location: Butte-aux-Cailles neighbourhood, Paris 13th arrondissement Year: 2018–2020
This series is very interesting because Seth did several paintings in situ on the streets of the neighbourhood. His official portfolio identifies it as a series of paintings in the Butte-aux-Cailles.

Eye to eye
Seth
Location: 11–14 Avenue Aristide Briand, Fontaine, France Year: 2021
Here Seth paints two children facing each other, one on each facade.
The image is very powerful because it seems like the two characters are looking at each other across the whole street.
