BAS: a free, critical and living urban art museum

Art has no borders and no rules: it speaks, shouts, transgresses and inspires. At BAS we want it to be felt, shown and celebrated.

We are not the protagonists

Barcelona is the stage.

Every street, façade and secret space has its moment. At BAS we build synergies with local artists, galleries and projects; we are all part of a city that creates and leaves its mark.

Come, look, reflect and connect.

BAS is only the door: the city is the real museum.

Here, art is free, critical, political and alive.

The BAS Museum brings together works by some of the best Spanish and international artists linked to urban art, creators who use public space as a means of artistic expression.

The museum offers the chance to discover, in one space, a great diversity of styles, techniques and generations, from the pioneers to emerging artists, without having to cross the city or travel. Through QR codes next to some of the works, you can get closer to the artists and their creative processes.

BAS is a living museum:

Although we have a permanent collection, the exhibition narrative is constantly evolving, adding new works and narratives and giving special value to painting within contemporary art. In addition, one of the rooms is devoted to emerging artists, giving them a space to show and grow their careers.

Cultural, educational and social commitment

BAS is committed to a close relationship with the public through guided tours, cultural projects, talks and collaborations with artists, experts and cultural organisations.

Mission

BAS is a space at the service of society that researches, displays and preserves urban and contemporary art. We offer a framework for visual and urban artists to express themselves and give the public the chance to discover and understand new narratives and perspectives through their work. Through exhibitions, cultural projects and partnerships with organisations, we promote cultural outreach and art education in the community.

Vision

We want to be a living, evolving space that connects the language of the streets with society, valuing both outdoor expression and the creative explorations of urban artists. BAS aims to be a cultural reference that contributes to knowledge, participation and artistic awareness, building links between artists, citizens and institutions in a local and international context.
