Ledania (Bogotà, Colombia, 1987)
2026, Bogotá
Sealed acrylic cut-outs with spray paint and locking screws, 200 x 200 cm.
Ledania presents a hybrid face combining human, animal and mythical features, generating a symbolic guardian between the visible and the invisible. The multiplication of eyes suggests an expanded and intuitive perception, while the intense colours and fragmented composition create an immediate visual impact. It evokes masks and mythological animals in a contemporary version, functioning as a device of protection and symbolic presence, situating itself within the curatorial core Symbolic and metaphorical imaginaries.
The perspective it brings to the collection:
The inclusion of Ledania’s work in the collection reflects the uniqueness of her pictorial language. She is able to combine human, animal and mythical dimensions in compositions that transcend individual representation, exploring archetypes and symbolic figures. Her treatment of colour, with saturated contrasts and flat fields, and her innovative technique, bring energy and vitality, establishing a dialogue between ritual tradition and contemporary visual culture.
